Better packaging would have helped
1 of 1 found this helpful All four that I ordered (2 sets) arrived damaged. They were mailed in a plastic bag so the individual boxes were crushed and the items were bent or distorted or had the terminals damaged. They have thin, basic, pressed steel cages so, if inadequately protected, they are liable to damage in the postal/delivery system. I knew they weren't going to be top-flight items at the price as I wanted them for basic use, but just a little care with packaging may have prevented this negative review.

1 of 4 found this helpful The "yes" answers and 3-star are based on scrutiny as I've not actually had the chance to use any of the blades yet ! Beware that this "10-blade" set is actually 2 sets of 5 (and then there are only 4 different blades as there are 4 similar "wood" blades in the 10, but having said that the selection would cover most requirements. I hope that they are properly hardened.

A very good basic CD player/radio - good value for money.
Sound is good and the volume is reasonable. The radio seems to be louder than CDs (probably due to the CD recording volume/track density?) but that's not an issue just an observation. I've changed the small bookshelf speakers for a pair of old hi-fi speakers and it seems to drive these well. I use it in my kitchen as a background and pumped up when I want to listen to rock albums. Full volume (with CDs) doesn't seem to exhibit any distortion when driven through the bigger speakers. The bookshelf speakers are fine if you just want relatively low volume for general use (and they're small and unobtrusive) but they seem a bit strained/distorted when given near or full volume. The radio/CD unit with the original speakers has a very small footprint so won't be a space-taker (my base unit is in a kitchen cupboard !!). So far so good and with a 2-year warranty I'm happy - I might buy another for my workshop !!
