Walthers Hot Metal Bottle Cars

A lovely pair of bottle cars that would look cute running around anyones steel mill. Assembly is fairly solid with the only complaint being that one end of one of the cars was a little twisted in relation to the bottle and other end. Originally as kits, the bottles could be rotated, but appear to be glued into place & this minor problem should be correctable. An improvement over the old kits are screws for the coupler covers allowing easier replacement of the lame couplers they equip it with with something a little more manly. The "rust" paint is kinda bland without any other markings, but evenly applied. The prototypes typically lack anything other than basic identification, so this will make a decent base to add heavy steel mill slag, grime and grit to.

Never regretted wiring my RR for DC operation

Bought two of these to install in Athearn EMD 38 series units just as they show in the picture and describe offhandedly in their instructions. One quit after 5 minutes of operation and the other installation has operated fidgety. Still have to contact Digitrax and not looking forward to the continued hassle of DCC.
