Good for younger children

My daughter owns an extensive Brio collection, purchased in the 1980's, and since I have 2 granddaughters who are 6 and 7, I planned to use the Brio table with the 50-piece set as an addition, and set the combined sets up in my basement. Turns out the table is small, about 32" long, 22" across and 12 inches high. I think it is very nice for a little child--I have a nephew who is almost 2, and I'm thinking of asking his mother if she would like the set. I likely will set up our bigger set on the floor--we have several boards my husband constructed years ago, to use with the train. While the table is nice, quite sturdy, and cute, it is better for a younger child, and it will not accommodate a lot of expansion, with additional track.
