A very good vacuum pump
This is a superb pond vacuum if you understand it. Its only real problem is its drain, but if you are prepared for it the problems are minimal.
When using it I placed it on a stool to give some hight to the outlet, the only problem then arose when the outlet valve jammed open, due to a piece of gravel. This valve is a simple flap so is easy to fix.
The amount of mud and water this pulls out is quite substantial, so care is required in the placement of the drain.

I bought one of these some 30 years ago its a bit tatty now so this seemed a good replacement, but unfortunately it is a little different this one is appreciably deeper or thicker, whhich means the egg is topped appreciably closer to the end.The result being that you are forced to remove a further portion of the shell before you can get a spoon in which kind of defeats the oblect
