Good Pictorial Guide for Finding Sustaining Wild Foods
I love the pictures. I can take the book out to my backyard and compare what I see growing with a picture of what I think it might be. I also like the maps. I live in Texas. If Texas is not colored in on the map of where a particular food grows, then I know I probably won't find that food in my backyard, even if something I find looks similar to a picture. That being said, Texas is a huge state, with a wide range of climate variances. So if Texas is shaded as a place where a particular food grows, that food very well may not grow where I live. In other words, the maps could be better, especially in geographically large states, by being made to show different zones where particular things grow rather than the whole state. In any event, I am very happy to have the book because I think there is a very real possibility that a time will come when I need to find food to provide needed sustenance from plants that grow in the wild.
