Good fun silent comedies
It is all good fun. I had not seen these two short, silent comedies for a long time. I feared they could have become a little tired and dated. However, I am pleased to confirm I enjoyed them both when I watched them recently.
I miss the Two Ronnies. They were a fun part of my childhood. These comedies remind me why I admired the Two Ronnies so much.

Beautiful, romantic film
Inspired by Wong Kar-Wai's nostalgia for 1960's Hong Kong, and regularly mentioned as Wong's best film, In the Mood for Love is beautifully filmed and features fine performances by Maggie Cheung and Tony Leung, two of the greats of Hong Kong cinema.
This film reminds us that so much can be communicated without the spoken word. The music, colours, and use of light and shade are all very effective. Maggie wears many lovely cheongsams throughout the course of the film, which add to the beauty and nostalgia.

Very worthwhile
Hsaio-Hsien Hou is an excellent director, and it is always good to see Tony Leung Chiu-wai in a significant role. There is a very worthwhle story to be told here, and although a lillte too long, A City of Sadness is presented with sympathy and style.
