Works, will require 3rd party controllers to not get hand cramps
No problems with it being refurbished so far. However, I have no idea how Nintendo manages to sell a game system with such horrendous controllers. If you don't want to suffer crippling carpal tunnel syndrome, get third-party controllers and/or plastic shells for the Joy-Cons that give them some substance for you to hold onto. Both are cheap enough.
