If books had a director's cut this would be it
The Forever War was written by a Vietnam war veteran, and is often described as a reply to Starship Troopers.
It follows the story of a conscripted soldier from his first days of training until he's released from service after a number of battles. The effects of time dilation due to travelling close to the speed of light gives the book it's title.
This is the first complete edition of The Forever Wars.
For some reason a chunk of the story was missing when the book was first published, this book has the missing chapter.
I would definitely recommend this book to any fan of classic sci-fi as well as anyone wanting to explore ideas about the changing society in the post Vietnam US when this book was written.

The Breakfast Club for Adults.
The film very closely resembles The Breakfast Club. A group of parents from different backgrounds (East and West Germany/rich and poor) arrive for a meeting with their kids teacher, who they have decided Must Go hence the title. They end up in the school for hours waiting for the teacher to return. They fall out, make friends, have disasters and end up trashing a couple of rooms. There is even a world weary janitor. Even though I'm not fluent in German I thoroughly enjoyed the film, and there are of course subtitles if needed.
