Sharon Hill History on Sharon Hill . Appropiate Title
I purchased the book because I grew up in Sharon Hill . No real input of reality which I did miss . It was more like a historical picture tour . I would like to have seen shots of where farms were , and then housing went up in the sixties . History of a boarding house on the 900 block of Elmwood Ave where residents left their children and some abandoned them . The owners of the boarding housing ended up adopting eight of the children . A fire escape still exists at the house .The fire on Elmwood Ave that killed part of a family because no one in Govt would pay attention to complaints of children not being watched during the day . The beautiful gothic chapel at The Holy Child Academy should have had some interior shots and the burial ground that existed for the Nuns which was removed to make room for a school . Something about the dead body found in a suitcase at the Sharon Hill Trolley stop which was never identified .The racial tension during the sixties on Elmwood Ave which was referred to as the Mason Dixon Line .Darby township where the blacks resided was a dirt road running behind Elmwood Ave .When a history book is written it should contain more than photos more background should be included .
