Sony BDP-BX1 Blu-Ray Player
2 of 2 found this helpful Pros: Nice picture quality, easy to install, plays both DVD and Blu-Ray discs very satisfied.
Cons: My one main complaint is the horrible amount of time it takes to load a disc. It literally takes about a minute to finally load something on the screen from the disc. Other than that it was a nice choice
Good price for a basic line Blu-Ray player. I guess you get what you pay for which having a Sony product usually means quality no matter what!

Dell Studio 1737 Laptop
1 of 1 found this helpful Pros: Nice looking display quality image, rugged chassis, Vista Side Bar is neat, Aero's visual graphics is cool, WiFi, Bluetooth, integrated camera, I like the DVD style player it does not have the tray that slides out just has a slot on the side to insert in with! I like the 2nd hard drive opening for backup.
Cons: For how resource induced Vista is I was disappointed in the cost cutting corners Dell takes by not giving at least 4gb of RAM vs 3gb. It is needed for DDR to work in Dual Channel mode anyway to match the 2gb chip given and it helped a bunch for the computer to run smoother. The Media Direct tool to integrate the entertainment choices has good thought in mind but clunky and the Blu-ray player takes a long time to boot and constantly asking for an update. Not very impressed with that I would rather have a nicer dedicated DVD software like WINDVD etc. Battery does not last as long as advertised only about 1.5 hours using WIFI. Sound stinks needs better audio device maybe it is the location of the speakers that are bad but all the way up on some movies it is challenging to hear! I think graphics card could be upgraded to something better for smoother playing video versus having to use the main RAM as source. The one thing and it is probably universal on all Dell and HP/Compaq, Gateway etc products is that they never give all the driver you paid for with the computer you always have to go searching their websites for product drivers. I wish they would just have seperate discs for special upgrades and give it to the systems that have that product.
Overall I think the Studio is not a bad machine. I have enjoyed using it everyday, mainly email, web usage, Streaming Video, and a Blu-Ray movies.
