**SIGNED** A CHILDHOOD AT GREEN HEDGES, Imogen Smallwood, hardcover + dj, 1989
    27 Oct, 2024
    Worth reading.
A great deal has been written about Enid Blyton. Whatever one's viewpoint on her personal life, nothing can detract from the stories she wrote and how so many of her books brought mystery, imagination, excitement, trepidation and so many other emotions. This book gives a huge insight of the life her younger daughter went through as a child. It is not written with hate and it is made clear Imogen herself had some problems. I find it very plausible that the older daughter, Gillian, had an 'easier' time of it - their mother's failing first marriage plus ever increasing fame would certainly have had an effect. It was quite easy to have sympathy for Imogen but also to realise she was not the easiest of children - she has been so honest about this. Nothing shocked me as I had known, since being adult, that not everything was as perfect as one would have hoped/thought in their private life. A book well worth reading if one has an interest in Enid Blyton. Not a hard or complicated read, just the memories of childhood.
25 X Extra Large Puppy Trainer Training Pads Toilet Pee Wee Mats Dog Cat 60x60cm

These are the best I have tried!
I buy puppy pads to put under and around my indoor cats' litter trays as one cat just cannot manage to keep his wee within the high sided trays! Newspaper just gets soggy so I tried as cheap as I could get puppy pads - they worked better than newspaper but I found no matter how many I used, wee managed to seep underneath and wet the tiled floor. These particular pads, whilst more expensive than the cheapest, really do seem to soak up more wee without any leakage - he is a big cat and does a bucketful at a time, some of course goes in the litter... but a decent amount does not. I would not say they are extra large.. just a couple of cms bigger one way which makes little difference, but it is the soakage-up power that seems so much better. I can not comment on how they would work for a puppy of course - but for a cat who cannot get his backside in the right place, they work a treat and I will continue to use these ones!

An exceptional and genuinely good read.
For anyone who has even the slightest interest in such a wonderful and long-running series, this book is a must. It is crammed full of information about cast and crew, including transcriptions of interviews with prominent people involved with The Virginian. There are some interesting photographs too. However, what makes this book stand out so much is the friendly, easy way in which it is written. There is an abundance of fact - and yet it is nothing like a traditional reference book, which can in places become a little tedious. If anything (and this is not a criticism, rather more of a accolade, actually..), I was left wanting even more detail! Paul Green has written a remarkable reference book about a remarkable series. A book to read from cover to cover - and yet also a book to dip into - either way it ensnares one's attention and it becomes a battle to put the book down again! A genuinely good read.
