Very readable and informative book.
Concise, informative, well illustrated and easy to read. Part of the wonderful Ladybird learning resource for children (and adults).

Wonderfully illustrated and written books of a subject now sadly disappearing from schools.
These were the best rural studies text books ever produced for schools. They are a little dated now and some of the information obsolete, but they are beautifully illustrated and well written, and have never been surpassed. They remain a testament to a wonderful record of horticultural and farming practices that were aimed at school pupils, which is a subject that is now sadly disappearing from the educational curriculum.
