Spot Scrubber
5 of 5 found this helpful I bought this a few weeks ago to help with some little pet 'accidents' (anyone know how to house-train a bird?), and I must say I am really quite impressed.
It is a little wet vac with a rotating brush at the front, and with clean and dirty water tanks. The clean water tank, which you fill with water and a cleaning solution, incorporates a spray button at the front. There is a switch at the side which switches the machine between scrub and vacuum. The scrub function rotates the brush once you have sprayed your target, and moving the vac slowly over the stain agitates it fairly well. Then you just switch to vacuum and watch everything disappear into the vac.
It is a very small, quite light unit, and the clean and dirty water tanks are neccessarily fairly small, though adequate. Actually I used the thing for a minor flood under my front door in the rain the other day, and it coped really well. It has to be said that the actual vacuum function on this is incredibly powerful for such a tiny machine. It gets the carpet really close to dry, better in fact than one or two larger machines I've tried in the past.
My one concern is the rotating brush. The bristles are quite soft, although I suppose they have to be to avoid damage to carpets. I have found it's a good idea to give things a good spray and let them soak for a few minutes before scrubbing. I don't know how long the brush head will last, and there is nothing on the Vax site to indicate that spares are available.
Overall, I think this is a quite impressive piece of kit. You wouldn't want to try washing the whole carpet with it and it's not a replacement for the bigger types, but what it does, it does very well.

Light and sturdy, highly recommended.
Really surprised by this. I bought it as a stopgap for my mum as she finds it impossible to get from her garden back into the kitchen over the doorstep. Planning a ramp, we got this to 'tide her over'. I wasn't expecting that much for the price, but actually this is brilliant and she thinks it will put off needing a ramp for quite some time. I'm mobility impaired myself and I'd struggled with the step - I found this made getting into her kitchen so easy.
I'd definitely recommend it for anyone who is starting to find their doorstep a bit too high. It's mobile and can be removed for storage or moved to another door. It's lightweight but surprisingly sturdy and feels stable underfoot. The non-slip cover keeps it safe even when wet.
I don't know how long it will last, but however long that it, it's already been far more than worth the money.
