Honeywell Lyric T5 Wi-Fi Smart Thermostat (RCHT8610WF2014/W)

Rough start but great after initial setup

Got this to replace dysfunctional thermostat that wouldn't shut off automatically. I also chose this one due to its compatibility with the Echo Dot 2 (Alexa) device. I only had 4 wires in the wall, of which can still work, but opted to run another wire so it was fully functional. Initial setup using an Android phone did not go smooth. For whatever reasons, my wife's phone would only go so far in the setup before no longer talking with the Lyric T5. I switched to my Android phone and got further but then it gave me some "telemetry" error right at the end .. I got frustrated and continued messing with it the next day. The next day, everything was there and came up just fine ... head scratcher.. Syncing up with Alexa was a breeze though. I have myself, my wife and daughter all on the geofencing thing. "Alexa, set thermostat to 70" ... Bam! ... it's now set to 70 degrees. The Android phone app works good as does the Alexa app for "manually" controlling the Lyric T5 Thermostat.

Great laptop for basic everyday tasks and light gaming.

A bit dated by todays (3-8-14) standards .. but for everyday tasks and some light gaming.. this is still a great tool for the job. One recommendation is to apply the "copper shim" fix to these guys as they are prone to over heating due to the poor heatsink to GPU design. Once done, you'll have a great laptop for years to come ....
