Compared to the original controller with...

Compared to the original controller with the knob(s), this has its pros and cons. Pro…once you know what setting works for a particular temperature range, you can pretty much set it and forget it before you even start rolling. If temperatures drop, a press, or two, of one, or both, of the buttons and all’s well. If the temperature goes up, however… Con…you have to cycle through all the settings until you come back to the desired (lower) setting. This might be a nuisance with winter gloves. Is that a deal breaker? Not for me, but it IS an inconvenience compared to the old style. That said, because the wire setup is different for each, I’d say get the one that installs the way you prefer and don’t worry about it. They both work great. Now, go for a ride, already!!

Singer 301

These are great. When I got my 301A, the rubber feet, what was left of them anyway, were hard and crumbling, Setting the machine on a mat so as not to mar the finish on my table left the machine feeling less than solid. Then I got these feet. Huge difference. Not only does the machine feel rock solid, but it's quieter. FYI, these tall feet are perfect if you're using your 301 as a portable only. If your using the cradle to run your 301 in a cabinet you will need to purchase the standard height
