A great little kit intended to be a static model but can be made to operate if you know what your about.

This kit has been around for a good number of years, and makes up to be a very reasonable evocation of a Great Western Railway single track set of crossing gates. The kit is very fine scale and requires a good hand to bring out the detail in painting. If you require the gates to operate authentically - then you have your work cut-out to make the gates hinge correctly. If you are an experienced modeller this could be a bit of a challenge - but possible, however if you are a novice a better option would be the old Airfix level crossing kit, which although a bit "over scale" looks pretty good when completed and is designed to be operable. I've re-engineered my SS56 kit to operate correctly with hinged pivots - a very fiddly process. But worth the effort.
