The Little Mermaid by Original Broadway Cast (CD, Feb-2008, Walt Disney)

Beautiful and Amazing.

Just listening to it is enough to pull the listener in. Even if you never saw the stage performance, the original movie is enough to help understand the just of songs. Including the songs that were never in the movie but were written for the stage performance, all of them by the same guy Alan Menken. My most favorite song that I would like to see in the movie is the quartet song "If Only" where Ariel is without her voice and she longs to tell Eric who she is, fully aware that time is running out. Eric is beside himself, trying to understand why he feels so drown to Ariel; even though she does not have the voice he is seeking. Sebastian is scared for Ariel, wishing for a way that he could tell Eric that Ariel is the girl he is looking for. While King Triton is sad, wondering where Ariel could possibly be and feels responsible for her disappearance. Another song that I like a lot is "One step Closer". It is like a dance song where Eric is teaching Ariel how to express herself with out words, and through out the song we see the relationship between Eric and Ariel blooming. My next favorite is the Finale. Everybody sings the celebration of Eric and Ariels wedding. Even Eric and Ariel sing a few lines of their own. In short, the entire album is beautiful.
