Restored to Sobriety
1 of 1 found this helpful According to a Wired magazine article about hangovers, Dihydromyricetin is one of the elite few compounds shown to reduce hangovers in clinical trials. Inspired, I tried DHM under controlled conditions. It is recommended to take during and after drinking, but not the next day. After three beers, I took two DHM tablets, and in 30 minutes, I felt pretty well restored to sobriety . Two more drinks and one more tablet, and I could still read with full comprehension and walk around with no feeling of intoxication. The next day, I had no headache or cognitive impairment. I repeated the experiment with 8 beers and 3 shots, followed by 5 tablets. No adverse affects the next day. I do not know if DHM reduces blood alcohol, or saves your liver, but it seems to affect the brain receptors that cause intoxication - it is the alcohol analog to Narcan. DHM is also used to control the desire for alcohol, because if taken prior to drinking, you might as well eat six hoagie rolls instead of drink six beers.
