Computer flexibility

Several years ago I built an X58 computer using a Sata 2.0 version of this drive selector so that I could use four different operating systems on the same chassis, the reason being that different equipment tends to be operating system specific. For example my USB microscope works with XP but not windows 7, my Ion turntable with windows 7 but not 8 or XP etc. This device is brilliant for selecting which operating system is required when booting up, although it recently failed defaulting to only XP, all other hard discs simply were not detected. I am fairly certain that this is because my Gigabyte X58A-UD3R motherboard boots up using Sata 3.0, 6gb connections and ultimately was not compatible with the original Sata 2.0 component. This version however, should restore my OS flexibility in the long term because it is now Sata 3 compatible, even so I am well pleased with its past performance and would recommend it to anyone wishing to use multiple operating systems.
