Carpenters - Christmas Portrait - Special Edition
Contains some real gems. Although it is a themed album it is too mixed to play from start to finish. Some tracks are too sugary and a clashing selection within a medley spoils the whole track. So ideally if your CD player lets you select the tracks then keep reading as there are some real gems of class in this album. These can be grouped into two, [1] the sentimental songs and the carols sung with such purity by Karen, along with an arrangement of O Holy Night by Richard, and [2] the instrumentals of simple quality as a respite from the Christmas excesses. Karen & Richard: 07 Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas. 11 Merry Christmas Darling. Karen keeps these two sentimental songs simple, warm and sincere. 12 Christ is Born. 17 Ave Maria. 21 Silent Night. In these carols the choir and orchestra just support, allowing Karen’s clear voice to sing with purity. 13 O Holy Night Superb highlighting of the piano, with orchestra and choir backing combination - the lyrics are hardly sung it is nearly all instrumental - adapted by Richard - a soft beginning rising to a piano virtuoso and then falling away. The Instrumentals: 10 Carol of bells. - short arrangement 15 Medley of Carols. - Here Comes Santa Claus - Frosty the Snowman - Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer - Good King Wencelaus 18 Selections from the Nutcracker. - overture miniature - dance of the sugar plum fairies - valse des fleurs

Dionne Warwick - Hot Live And Otherwise
This is a night out with your best frock on ! From the opening “Ladies & Gentleman, Miss Dionne Warwick” to the ending “Goodnight All”, the 9 live tracks flow seamlessly in an hour of top class entertainment, taking you to that Casino in Reno. It’s vibrant, bright, a celebration ! In the live hits medley, there are 11 Burt Bacharach samples in a selection of 13 hits, and it’s 20 minutes of non stop singing. The live section ends with “I’ll Never Love This Way Again”, and as the audience senses she is ending, of course, Dionne gives even more, as a grand finale. The actual sound recording is superb. This is a longer more relaxed version than the 5 minute fast edit on the 1971 Carpenters Album. ## The Carpenters - Live Medley - Carpenters Hits ## On the CD Carpenters Live at the Palladium 1976 there is a 16 minute medley of 10 Carpenters hits, starting their Burt Bacharach hit, “They Long To Be Close To You.” ## There are none in the shops ## Look out for them on Ebay ##
