watch out for fakes
the 555 is the most faked IC which I'm aware of.
there are lots of inferior copies even from sellers who previously supplied good stock
the output at pin 3 should always be capable of powering a relay up to 200mA
To test, build a circuit with 3 sequential timers as per Datasheet SLFS022G.and attach relays at the outputs. Fakes will always blow while originals will run forever.
The sequential timer circuit should also show faults related to bad tolerances at pin 4
Although fakes are incredibly cheap and often work in simple low load applications, they will cause endless waste of time when used on more sophisticated circuits.

it was worth a try
I bought this to fix a worn pulley belt in a chainsaw sharpener.
The price was low enough for a try out, even though I did not have high hopes whether it may work. My initial feeling proved right.
There are plenty examples on Youtube where these belts are being used for some self built implements and that is what they are good for.
Don't buy to fix power tools.

great reliable budget player
1 of 1 found this helpful This model has been on the market for 10 years or longer. It is very reliable with a sound quality which is more than ample with a decent set of headphones. If however, you want to play through a £100 + pro headphone then you may find a slight miss-match.
The supplied earplugs were good enough to test whether the player works but not far beyond.
I bought the model with 4GB internal memory. Not much, but enough for my purpose, -and here is, where my use differs from most people's: I bought it to play music on a holding loop for a telephone system.
I cannot say much about battery life as I run it off a 1.5V mains supply. I seem to remember that I thought it quite good when I had a similar model many years ago. As the model did not essentially change, I presume that it is not absolute top rank when compared with more modern designs. But carrying a spare AAA battery won't be too much hardship in this price range.
As for reliability, my player is now running over 7 months 24/7 non-stop - without a single song-drop or fault. - I think that this is impressive enough to write about !!!!
