excellent golf balls - not cheap
If you want a high end ball and you're swingspeed is around 100, this is a great ball. Really long and straight off the tee, but it's around the greens you'll notice the difference. Getting off the tee into the fairway is a big deal, and the cheaper lowspin balls will do that, but this ball will give you a long straight ball AND a great chipping/pitching/putting feel which is where you can really make up strokes. No hesitation in recommending these, but you'll pay a little more. If you want something a little cheaper the Bridgestone e6 is an excellent second choice.

Over 10 years later Ping G5 is still an excellent choice
If you want to hit it long and straight, the Ping G5 is still one of the best drivers out there.
Tee it high, tuck that right elbow in coming down and let it fly! Shocking accuarcy and length. I'm 60, play to about a 10 handicap, swingspeed about 100. I get 280yds with the 12 degree driver. Best of all, holy cow it's in the fairway! Get one of these for 50 bucks, forget the 300-700 dollar marketing marvels. This does the job.
