Superb Irish fiddling in the East Clare style
This a wonderful recording of Paddy Canny, the highly regarded fiddler from East Clare, described in the CD title deservedly as 'legendary'. After decades of playing and being a great influence on many other players, this is actually his first solo release. And what a recording it is too: fourteen sets of tunes playing in the unhurried style of East Clare and with sympathetic backing on piano and guitar by Eugene Kelly. It's a delight from start to finish as Paddy Canny works his way effortlessly through the jigs, reels and hornpipes, the mainstays of dance accompaniment of which he was such an expert. The only negative side is that the CD isn't long enough - at about 40 minutes running time, it definitely leaves the listener wanting more. The CD is unfortunately no longer in print but it well worth seeking out for anyone interested in proper well-played Irish instrumental music and fiddling in particular. Highly recommended.

Excellent Polish traditional music
Superbly recorded album of very lively dance music, mainly played on fiddles, from the Polish Tatra Mountains. A worthy companion piece to The Trebunia Family Band recording from the same region. A rich tradition which deserves wider notice and exposure. Recommended.

Great Bulgarian traditional music.
Fantastic music from this area of Europe, played with panache and style. This music from south eastern Europe was meant for dancing. The time signatures of the tunes seem strange indeed to western European musicians, many being in 15/8 time. This is heady stuff and highly recommended.
