Great movie, this version is a high quality print
This movie has been in the Public Domain for several years but the video quality has been at best abysmal. Based on a play written by two former journalists from Chicago in the late 1920's it's been said that the characters are loosely based upon individuals that they knew.
It's been remade several times, the first with the 1940 Cary Grant version where there is a gender swap called "His Girl Friday" frequently listed as both one of the best movies ever and one of the best movies with Cary Grant. It was remade a second time in 1974 with Walter Matthew and Jack Lemmon as the two primary leads and if you're a fan of other works with these two leads you should consider watching that version as well and watching this version you can easily see which would play which part in the later version. It was redone yet again in 1988 as Switching Channels taking gender changing cues from His Girl Friday but also updating it to take place at a TV station rather than a newspaper.
There's a reason why this movie has been remade several times over the course of the past century, the plot is both relevant and funny even in our modern era. It shows corruption we have in our politics, our criminal system when getting a conviction is more important than seeking out justice, and our media with how easy it is to just regurgitate the same old story over and over again and the laziness of many journalists to actually get to the bottom of a story and focusing on sensationalism rather than facts.
This movie is the one that started it all and still a great story.
This movie is a high quality print of the movie having been remastered from a version stored at the Library of Congress. Special features tells how this print got into the hands of the Library of Congress which in itself is a fantastic story worth hearing.

Great movie
Not one of my favorite Cary Grant movies, but ranks up in the top third.
Enjoyable movie and this version tends to be a higher quality print than other versions I've seen/purchased. If you like this movie and are hesitant because of poor versions you've received before, this is the one to get in DVD format. Picture and audio quality is great.

Good Batman story but not recommended for pre-teen viewing
Great movie. I've been a Batman fan for some time but quit reading the comics back in the 80's so I'm new to the "Court of Owls", as well as the fact that Batman has a son.
Purchased this so that my nephew and I could watch together and we enjoyed it immensely.
