Friction where needed
I needed to cut a disc to fit between a telescope mount and tripod increasing the friction between these parts. This did the trick without producing a sloppy cushion.

A recommended upgrade
Used this BB to replace original on a Dahon D7 Speed. The original BB was not a sealed bearing. Although the bike was 5 years old it had hardly been ridden. After taking the pedals off and rotating the crank I was shocked as to how rough it felt. Rotating the Shimano BB after installation felt super smooth in comparison. It really transformed the bike. An upgrade well worth doing for the money.
