Eddystone EC10 MkII Transistorised Receiver - a suitable case for treatment
    03 May, 2016
Eddystone EC10 Mk II: Great Old British Communications Receiver.
The Receiver was made in the late 1960's. Anything this age needs treating with care. So I collected the unit in person. This is a specialist radio. You need to know what you are purchasing. The price I paid was good value. 1. It was working as stated. Transistors had been replaced, the set aligned but was not as sensitive as it should be. 2. It had marks to the metal case [in the photo]. There had been battery spillage inside which had been cleaned and damage repaired. 3. Replacement of key transistors by myself restored performance. 4. The case will be resprayed. Cosmetically and functionally the unit will then be as in its heyday. I use the receiver to listen to commercial radio 550 KHz to 30 MHz; everything from Radio 5 Live to Radio China. I am able to receive amateur morse and SSB transmissions. There are also the "Numbers Stations", Citizen Band Users and automated metrological stations that can also be picked up.
