7/8” lamp wick, 6’ roll
Excellent, tightly woven wick. Some modern wick is too thick to operate well in old burners. This wick fills the tube, but not so tightly that the wick-winder is strained in moving it. It’s also nice to cut the length one needs for a particular lamp since some are deep enough to leave the standard 7” or 8” precut wicks high and dry with plenty of fuel left in the tank.

Great reference
One of the most neglected facets of the kerosene lighting era is the center draft lamp. Yet this may be the most fertile testing ground in the development of strong, efficient lighting; and innovation to make it safe and easy to operate. I suppose, the reason for this neglect, is that a preponderance of these lamps are metal, and the burners are sometimes very industrial in appearance; they simply aren’t as delicate and pretty as their glass, flat-wick counterparts. However, for the person who loves invention, and appreciates the myriad of shapes and designs only achievable in metal, this is a fantastic reference; and with so many illustrations and photos, this book is total eye-candy! Through these illustrations, and all the patent information, this can also be an invaluable resource for the collector and restorer in identifying makers and missing parts. If you’re a lamp collector, restorer, or just find the many channels of American ingenuity fascinating, this book should definitely be in your library.
