The Naked Warrior - Quite possibly the only book on gym-free strength you'll ever need
Having read a number of books on bodyweight-only strength and muscle training, I found the approach in Pavel's 'The Naked Warrior' quite refreshing. Where many other books featured a plethora of exercises for each body part with countless exotic variations, 'The Naked Warrior' focuses on, essentially two exercises: The one-legged squat (or 'pistol') and the one-armed push up (although the progressions and variations of these exercises included in this book provide ample variety if you're looking for something challenging at every ability level). Pavel's approach is all about quality over quantity, and the quality of instruction in this book is second to none. I had struggled for years trying to master these very challenging exercises and had made very little progress until the instruction in this book broke it all down for me. The attention to detail when providing instruction in these exercises is the key to it's success: With challenging movements such as the ones prescribed in this book, it is essential that every aspect of their performance right down to positioning of the shoulder and the precise breathing techniques used throughout are properly relayed in order for the exercise to be performed correctly and effectively. In essence, 'The Naked Warrior' is the perfect book for anyone who is looking to improve or maintain their strength with limited resources and/or time. However, if you can get your hands on it, I would recommend purchasing an older version of this book as the latest edition (2011) has been heavily edited by the publisher and some of the content has been removed. All of the key instruction remains, but the book loses some of it's charm without the foreword by Steve Maxwell and testimonials from Steve Cotter (two names that may be familiar to anyone with a keen interest in strength and kettlebell training). If you have only the time and resources to follow one bodyweight-only strength programme, make it 'The Naked Warrior'; you will not be disappointed.

Parker 26C Heavy Duty Double Edge (DE) Safety Razor

An excellent all-rounder for those with some experience of DE shaving
A very attractive, solidly-made razor: It has a nice weight in the hand and a good grip, even when wet; it gives a comfortable, close shave (provided you pair it with a decent blade). I've used this razor to tackle a week's worth of beard growth and it performed admirably (although I would normally recommend using an electric trimmer/clippers to take the hair down to stubble before wet shaving). I primarily use it to shave my head and in that regard it performs excellently. With a sharp blade, the weight of the razor alone does an excellent job with no pressure applied. Once you get used to the shaving angle, it's really quite easy to use. In spite of the open comb, it is not particularly aggressive and would be an excellent razor for someone who has some experience with double edge shaving but is by no means a razor for experts only. I have several razors but this one has become my go-to and with good reason.

A weightlifting goldmine
Greg Everett's book, now in its third edition, is a veritable goldmine of weightlifting instruction. Everett's lifting experience, coaching knowledge and with his clear and thorough writing style combine to create a book that, while boasting a considerable volume of material, remains focused and little (if any) information that is not absolutely essential to anyone who is serious about their performance in the sport. In short, this book is the definitive text on modern weightlifting. If you need a book about weightlifting, this is it.
