If you need it, then you need it.
You'll need this tool to install certain bottom brackets. It's the only option I know of that's suitable for SM-BBR60 and BB-MT800 bottom brackets. It does the job but it's a plastic adapter that goes between a metal tool and a metal bottom bracket so you have to treat it with care. But it's not like there's an alternative for the bottom brackets its designed for.
Note however that this adapter will come with retail packaged bottom brackets. You'll only need to get one separately if you've got an OEM bottom bracket. E.g. if your bike came with BB-MT800 that you need to remove, or you've bought your bottom bracket from an online retailer that sells OEM parts.
