Eamonn Dillon. One of a kind.
The sad thing about this artist is, is that there aren't more cds by him. This cd was recorded by Eamonn and some friends in Canada and while Eamonn is a traditional Uilleann piper there are some tunes that have been given a contemporary twist to them.
That said I love it, because they are mixed in with a great selection of trad tunes too and this lad can play.
He lives over here in the U.S. now so he can be seen at sessions and the like but boy would I love him to record another album and hopefully with his sister Róisín, who is a fiddler and a former member of the great Cherish the Ladies group. She is unbelievably talented like her brother.
I play from the cd on my radio shows and will continue to. A pure breath of fresh Irish air.

Another wonderful singer from Dungiven
I’m sure the water in Dungiven has a fair amount to do with it because there have been so many tremendous singers from there what else could be the reason. I first heard Cara when she was fifteen and singing with a band called Óige, which is Irish for young or youth and boy were they young! Cara had a song on there called the Flower of Magherally-O and her singing would squeeze the blood from a turnip! I haven’t heard it ever sung as well since.
This cd is very tastefully performed by herself and her husband, Sam Lakeman with some others adding their talents and it is what you might expect from Cara if you know of her, laid back arrangements with superb vocals and not a pub song in sight. Which is the way it should be with artist of her caliber.
Her sister Mary is also an exquisite singer and as I said there are other gorgeous singers from this Northern Irish town. Everyone worth looking out for Maranna McCluskey and Nollaig Briolly are just two others. I think over the years Cara has chosen some songs that have been well received, well this collection will be too.

She who must be obeyed loves Jemma Kidd so this was a huge hit as Kidd’s products haven’t been manufactured for years.
