Good 10Gbps Ethernet with coppercable
2 of 2 found this helpful I wanted to try out 10Gbps RDMA and this is a decent setup which allows multiple links to same or two different machines with direct QSFP+ copper cable which is not too expensive for short runs. If you want to go faster there is an upgrade path since if you add an infiniband switch you get 40Gbps (I tried 40Gbps direct cable infiniband but the mellanox osm software wasnt playing for me and it is stated on their homepage that it is demo level software only and recommend a switch)
They are slightly old but still supported by vendor with new firmware and drivers for windows 2016 (the downloaded drivers are supposedly using much less cpu than the preinstalled microsoft drivers)
With 40Gbps they are faster than most NVMe drives and so make for an excellent way of sharing disks between hosts.
