How to use this disc in your Sony Handycam and keep it re-writable
1 of 1 found this helpful I have the Sony Handycam 108. The DVD+RW discs works very well. You can record over them as many times as you want as long as you know a few things. Just don't pick finalize the disc and you can re-format the disc and record over and over. Just use the access switch and the video camera will open when it is ready. Then take the disc out. To save what you record, just save it to your computer and reuse the discs. If you want the recorded disc to play on all formats in DVD players, that is what the "Finalization of the disc is for. If you finalize a disc then it is done and not re-writable any more. Don't use the "Easy" record option on the Sony Handycam, if you do then it can't be deleted. The easy record option will not let you rewrite and use the disc for other recordings. In Easy record mode, whatever you record on the disc in that mode will not be delete-able. So any segment recorded in "Easy" record mode is stuck on the disc, you can't delete that.
**** So to fully take advantage of a re-writable disc using the Sony Handycam 108.
* Never use the "easy" record option and never finalize the disc.
*Then you can always re-format the disc and re-write over it as many times as you wish?
I have done it countless times and the film quality seems to be fine. I don't know how many times you can rewrite over it if it will lose quality. It would seem it would. I have not noticed it yet.
This is a good re-writable disc if you take care not to do things that records it permanently.
