The best you'll get for your money
1 of 1 found this helpful I did a lot of research before buying. A lot of people at various sites said that even today the Dimage Scan Dual III could hold its own against modern scanners. I have only one disappointment: Something to brush/blow the dust off just prior to scanning was high on my list. It turns out that the Dimage "dust cleaner" is just software and not a mechanical cleaner. Maybe that was a big deal back when it was made but nowadays nearly every photo-editing program comes with better software. Despite that, I am still convinced that a used, working DImage Scan Dual II is the best deal you'll find.
One warning from my research: This scanner comes with several holders for various types of film and slides. Those holders are not to be found anywhere on the Internet unless you can find a broken scanner for parts. Many people were having this problem so make SURE all the trays are included.
(As a Linux user I expected a struggle to get it to work on my system. I did have to do a little research but it works fine on Debian Jessie)
