Barely functions - practically need to touch it to activate it.
UPDATED -- While the complaint below about the instructions is still accurate, I did discover that indeed, yes this unit needs to be operated HORIZONTALLY. It has to point downward to work properly. Once I used a right angle socket extender so that it pointed down, it works fine. Nice adjustment range too. So I change my rating to 5 stars. My understanding is that the sensor element in these units eventually become less and less sensitive over a period of years. This unit is nicely priced that should it give me more than a few years service I will have well got my money's worth. So, yes, Recommended.

First off, the instructions are practically unintelligible. They don't clearly explain what the "LUX" control knob does and it doesn't explain whether if the unit can be placed horizontally, which is the way I need to use it-- the light fixture is mounted on the wall above the door, not on the ceiling.
At this point, mounting it horizontally as I have, it barely senses a person entering (it's in a closet). I walk right under it with two feet of it and nothing. In order for it to trigger, I need to wave my hand up within a few inches of it. If this is a because it is not mounted straight down (ceiling mount), then they should have said so in the description, but I would bet it's not because the sensor can "see" any object that passes under it just as easily when it's horizontal as when it is mounted vertically. I am thinking of returning the three that I bought, but I may try using a socket extender that will allow it to face downward to see if that will get it to work.
It would be a shame if these don't work because they are exactly what I need for a hands-free operation in our small walk-in closets. I will repost when I try using it in a vertical position. If that works, I'll change my evaluation; if it doesn't, they are going back.
