The Twilight Samurai - DVD in Japanese with English subtitles - Very Good

Haunting movie that I had to own

I viewed the movie "The Twilight Samurai" before and enjoyed it so much I had to get my own copy. Unlike the flashy theatrics associated with kung fu/martial arts-type movies, this one represents the reality -- a reality where even samurai have different ranks and some are like army privates doing the grunt work and thankless jobs. In this story, "my hero" is a widower with two young daughters and a mother who has dementia, subsisting on low wages. What makes him different is his quiet determination to do what is right and his well-hidden skills as a swordsman. Can he re-connect with his childhood friend who loves him? Can he fulfill the task assigned by his clan to kill a master swordsman? Like all the great Japanese movies that I've seen, this is very long and may seem to go on "forever." Get used to it!

Olympus WS-500M (2048 MB, 544.5 Hours) Handheld Digital Voice Recorder

Great model, too bad they "improved" it

I own several Olympus voice recorders and they are all good, but this older model has a couple of features that are not available anymore. 1) The screen is backlit. Eliminating this may have made the voice recorder more energy efficient, but that also means you need light to view the screen. 2) When you change the battery, the recorder keeps its settings and you don't have to WAIT while it reboots and then asks you which battery. You continue right where you were before and don't lose your place. 3) The wait time when turning it on is shorter.
