They claimed that it had been damaged in the post and returned to them. It's happened before. I don't believe it.

Good but dated.
I have the first edition of this book which I bought at a bvery good price on Ebay from an excellent supplier in the US of A. There is a new edition but I have not read as it is expensive at £50 in the UK. The edition I have is composed of reviews of the salient films. There's a cast list and credits for each. The story of each is fairly lengthily summarised . There is the authors' opinion of each film with much dissatisfaction with aspects of most of them.
This sort of book was useful 25 years ago but is overtaken now by the Internet. However it's nice to have on the bookshelf.
I found AMERICAN GOTHIC by Johnathan Rigby much more insightful.
