Good, standard TRV
1 of 1 found this helpful Danfoss is a well respected UK manufacturer. These valves are well made, albeit a little bulky compared to some of the latest models. A nice feature is the ability to fit the valve either way round - the FLOW or RETURN setting is changed by simply rotating a plastic collar - makes installation trouble-free. Only negative I can find is the lack of a fixed upper-limit stop, so the maximum room temperature can't be preset, but most people won't find this an issue. Good value and well made.

3Com baseline switch family
These switches represent great value for money. They are easy to configure and, like all 3Com kit, offer great reliability. The power over ethernet models offer a low cost and reliable way to implement POE in a small to medium office. Only slight downside is that the inbuilt fan is a little noisy, though this is only noticeable in a quiet office and is lost when the switches are installed in a server rack, as most are. I've used 3Com kit for years and it's never let me down. Buy clean, used models with confidence.

Great, robust pumps
OK so you can buy a cheaper pump - BUT do you really want to be fiddling around, fixing a cheaper alternative in a year or two? Buy a Monsoon,take some care over the installation, and you can forget it for many years. Best thing about this pump is the all-metal construction of the impellers and housings - built to last. Not the quietest pump, but pay attention to how you install it and the noise is acceptable in most domestic setups. IF you just cut the pipes and install it inline without ensuring that the pipework can't resonate it WILL be noisy. If not installed correctly the pipework will ring like a bell - but that is to be expected with any powerful pump. Only downside is Stuart Turner's recent decision to remove most small spare parts from the market - a bonkers move! On the plus side the warranty on new units is long and fuss-free. Good pumps, trusted by the trade.
