Great for snorkelling and the beach, but....

It takes lovely underwater photos under the right conditions. However in very bright sunlight and in low contrast conditions underwater, the LCD may not be bright enough to clearly show what one is trying to photograph or video. In these conditions the camera can be frustrating. Give the camera some contrast in the background, such as a coral reef, and magical photos happen! Focus is fast and the internal zoom works well.
The camera is very intuitive and has a very shallow learning curve. Battery life is somewhat limited, so if going on a snorkel trip make sure that you bring an extra fully charged battery....just make you rinse the camera with fresh water and meticulously dry the exterior before opening the battery door and changing the battery (or SD card), and that you do this is a dry non-sandy area.
Image quality when photographing indoors at night was less than inspiring, as images were very grainy using flash.
For outdoor, beach and shallow underwater use, this camera is an excellent, reliable and fun travel companion
