It does what it says inside, life of poor Irish in the 1950's.
Lovely, easy readable story of Ireland in the 1950's, amusing, interesting and gives a real life picture of the lives of maybe not so well off folk at that time. Really enjoyed it. Would now like to visit Ireland sometime in the future, especially this area of County Mayo.

A great and interesting read if you are a gardener but also of historical interest.
This book arrived promptly, and because of its historical content, but entirely accurate instructions as regards correct gardening techniques, it was of extreme interest for me. It is mentioned in the novel Middlemarch by George Eliot, so for me a double whammy!
