HP Elitebook Pro: Best Laptop for the Money
HP Business Laptops are the only way to go; but, with so many models to choose from, too many configurations it can get very confusing, complicated and daunting. Do your research, read at least ten to thirty reviews. I finally decided on Elitebook because of its three year warranty, portability, reliability, performance; and, because HP's business notebooks have always served me well: This is the fifth one I've purchased. The Elitebook Pro 6930p is rugged, quiet, doesn't run hot; it's a workhorse for the business person on the go. Also, HP has Protect Tools that help to protect the hard drive against dropping, being banged around at airport security and drastic temperature ranges. It takes a beating and literally keeps on working. Pros: 4GB RAM, 250GB Hard Drive, Intel Core 2 Duo, and at 2.53 GHz it's fast; not a speed demon, but it's fast enough for multitasking so you can switch between windows quickly. You can transfer files to an external back up source (hard drive, flash drive, extra partition) quickly; awesomely fast wireless connection. Not all wireless cards and protocols are equal. Some are better than others and this one of them. Pros: Windows Vista Business SP1 with Free Upgrade to Windows 7 which this laptop qualified for. Windows 7 Ultimate takes full advantage of the features of an OS. Is it comparable to Snow Leopard? W7 is better in some ways the way the windows open up, cascade or tile, maximize, or preview. They are organized for efficiency, productivity. At last Windows 7 has lived up to the hype. Extra Pluses: Bluetooth is nice to have available, especially if you want to hook up a bluetooth mouse even though I don't need it. This laptop comes with both a touchpad and a pointer stick. Fingerprint sensor, nice for storing passwords and using one swipe of the finger saving a lot of repetitive typing. Modem, even though most people don't need a modem these days, it's handy for faxing on the go. Speakers are always great, better than on most models where the sound is feeble, barely audible. Webcam, which I will rarely if ever use is available...just in case. And everything else HP could possibly cram into one laptop, they did. Cons: The little lamp over the screen is possibly the lamest thing on this laptop. In the words of another reviewer, "The pop-out light on top of the monitor feels cheap. It's just a single LED that shines down on the keyboard. I think from a design standpoint that a backlit keyboard would make more sense with this laptop. I would even pay extra for that." I agree. Cons: The 6 cell li-on battery is supposed to last 6 hours but that's only if you set the power options to "balanced" - which means that your screen goes dark and is difficult to see. Otherwise if you set the power to Maximum, you might get three hours of battery time. It is misleading. Cons: The touch buttons on top are basically useless; they're not very responsive but this is the case on most laptops including Gateways. Also, the mouse clicker on the bottom half is not very responsive: Takes a harder or repeated click to open a program. The top level mouse clickers (right and left) are better. Also the keys feels funny to the touch. They're rough, chalky feeling but that could be a personal thing. Other reviewers have complained about the push button latch, that it's clumsy. I find it responsive. I wish that laptops would have better power plug-ins like the patented magnetic DC Connectors by Mac.

Economical, Excellent Switch that Does the Job
I didn't know the difference between a Managed and an Unmanaged Switch, so after doing a little research I found out most small businesses don't need the "Managed" switch. I bought the Unmanaged External, Cisco Small Business 100 Series 16-Port External Switch for a great price and it has worked out perfectly. Save yourself some money, the headaches and just buy an Unmanaged Switch. Sometimes you can overboard and get sucked into all the technical hype and OD on geek speak.
Europe GPS Map 2016.10 for Garmin devices on microSD

All of Europe on a MicroSD to go!
I had my doubts about buying a GPS Map off eBay as opposed to buying direct from Garmin. How good could it be? But I took the Map to Scotland and Iceland and the GPS Map worked fine once I put coordinates in of my destination. It wasn't perfect; it had a hard time finding names of places like Glasgow International Airport! It was not the most intuitive GPS map I've had but for $26 I'm not going to complain.
