Classic curriculum for teaching reading

The Peter and Jane series is not only a classic, proven over time, but is well researched and linguistically well designed for teaching young children how to read. In addition, it is excellent for teaching English Language Learners the high frequency words in the English language even as they learn to read in English during English acquisition. As an ESL teacher. I have used the Ladybird Peter and Jane series for very good results. I give it my highest recommendation.
