Love it. Great machine, and SUPER portable.
Great machine! This is my third Dell Dxxx model laptop. They have long been my favorite. No on board optical drive, but that is part of what makes it super portable without sacraficing screen or keybboard size.
Be warned, unit does take a 1.8" ZIF sytle hard drive which is expensive to upgrade past 80GB. I bought a PCMCIA UDMA (high speed) Compact Flash adapter and a 128GB compact flash card for extra storage. Works like a charm and what else are you going to use the PCMCIA slot for? =)
These Core 2 Duos will run Windows 7 and Window 8 reasonably fast. I'm an IT Director and a bit spoiled - but this machine keeps me happy. Options can include a finger print reader which also works fine with Win 7 and 8 (regardless of what forms posts claim, it works fine using AuthenTec True Suite.
Battery performance is acceptable. 2.5 hours with the screen on full brightness during heavy use. Gigabit network port is great too. Typical options are standard, such as Bluetooth, Wifi and ports. Uses standard PA-10 or PA-12 adapter - laptop is capable of sensing adapter. (Most Dells are)

Great router!
Older model, but the best as far as I'm concerened. If you are going to use Wireless-G, it's the way to go.

A trackball is only a trackball if....
...the ball is free floating and spins on it's own after giving it a tap... That's just how trackballs are supposed to work...
The ball in this thing is crammed into the socket and there is so much resistance that it is not possible to roll the ball and quickly move the pointer. So it becomes 20 rolls with the thumb to go from one screen to any of the other screens in my particular case. In fact, it's not even comfortable on a single screen. Increasing the mouse pointer speed only results in oversensitivity when doing small/short movements.
