A nightmare to set up
2 of 5 found this helpful This machine is a big lump of a thing and heavy, be careful unpacking it.
The basic setup sheets are confusing and quite a few of the figures and words don’t make sense. If it did actually work the way the sheets indicate, it would be much easier.
Getting it to connect to my network was a real pain. It took a lot of faffing about to get the printer “found”. I gave up with the default method and got
it going by pressing the button on the side of the router. Once that was done, it was pretty easy to connect to phones and tablets although, once again, the instruction sheets and what I needed to do didn’t match. Connecting laptops was also easy enough once you had download the software and installed it. Not sure I like the giant L-shaped menu that appears bottom right of the desktop. Easy enough to close it though.
I like that when you click in the ink cartridges you get a light in front of each one. I would suggest that Canon change this light from red to green. I thought that a red light meant that I had not got them seated correctly.
Haven’t used the scanner yet but have printed a few documents and the quality is excellent. Have copied a couple of forms containing colour using the home screen on the printer. One very good but the one with purple was not so faithful to the original.
Now that it’s all set up, I’m pleased with it so far. If it lasts as long as my Epson RX640 I will be happy.
The Epson is still going strong btw it’s just not WiFi enabled. I keep it because of the 35mm slides/negative carrier in the scanner lid. Why does nobody provide these in an all-in-one any more?
