Having wasted time and money on remanufactured cartridges I now only buy genuine HP ones. Many on Ebay seem to be past their "use by" date but they still work.

2 of 2 found this helpful Not the machine for the casual user and easy to see why the iPod cornered the market for music lovers. However if, like me, you need to record "sound bites" at good quality this is perfect. Controls a little idiosyncratic but soon mastered and quality superb. Add the Sony 957 Stereo mic and you have a piece of kit that is perfect for ad hoc location recordings. Still getting to grips with Sony's (again) idiosyncratic software which seems to have paid rather too much emphasis on protecting music rights over user friendliness.
I just love the little beast.
