Adequate, batteries go down quickly
2 of 2 found this helpful Easy to use, clarity good, but the (8) batteries needed expire quickly as there is no master on/off switch; you have to open the back and take a battery out to kill the unit.

Use for something else
3 of 4 found this helpful Don’t get over excited about use as a ‘parasol base’. Although all-metal construction these only weigh 2kg tops. They are 87cm across with legs deployed. The centre plate actually sits 4cm above the floor with the legs out and the top of the centre cylinder is then 32cm above ground. It wouldn’t take much breeze to blow your parasol over - unless you supplemented the gadget with extra weights or some big U staples knocked into the earth perhaps. I bought a couple aimed at being free standing bases for survey poles instead and they were found ideal for that, or perhaps they could be used for (low height) free standing temporary signage. Dark grey. The 4 feet each lock either in folded or open position with sprung catches, and the feet and base plate are all spot welded. The leg pivots are through-rivets and there is a small bit of play, each could be replaced with a nut and bolt if you were of a mind. Reasonable value, but if you seek a garden parasol base for use straight out of the box go for something far heavier or one that can be filled with water perhaps.
