very pretty butter dish
A standard tub of butter from the supermarket could sit inside this ceramic butter dish ALMOST: but ONLY if you trimmed off some of the plastic rim for the lid that closes the tub and then you couldn't close the tub anymore.
I want to be able to drop a butter tub into it when people come round for dinner and then I want to put the butter tub back in the fridge afterwards - leaving the ceramic butter dish clean - and meanwhile the ceramic butter dish looks great on display the rest of the time as a pretty ornament that I can look at every day.
I don't want to drop a block of butter straight into the ceramic dish or to have to keep such a pretty thing hidden away in the fridge getting greasy, and constant use and/or washing up of an item means more chance of eventually breaking it by accident, it's safer to display it on the shelf.
I would give it five stars if it was just slightly bigger, so that a standard size butter tub including rim could sit nicely inside it. (I suppose you could use a block of butter and keep the paper on but the paper can get quite messy and it's less easy to tip out - I prefer to buy the tubs).
