Awesome gadget.
We have 4 of these. One on the DAC in the lounge, one on a Bose SoundDock in the kitchen, one on a Philips Fidelio iPod dock in the study and one on a Bose Wave Radio in the bedroom. All on a group so internet radio can be streamed all over the house. Perfect, they even have a time delay adjustment so you never get the annoying echo. They reliant on a good internet connection and a robust router. I use a Ubiquiti Unifi AC Lite AP in conjunction with a Draytek wired router. Well recommended.

Amazing Concert - poor extras.
Being only 17 I wasn't alive during The Who's greatest times, which also included the amazing Keith Moon on drums, however I decided that I wanted to see what The Who are like in modern times without the full list of band members. This concert was recorded in November 2000, with John "Thunder Fingers" Entwistle was still alive. They sounded just as loud and alive as in many live recordings I viewed on "The Kids Are Alright" movie. It was pretty amazing to see them performing with other new and old artists aswell such as Bryan Adams, Noel Gallagher, Eddie Vedder and Pall Weller. These performances are fantastic, but although I am an Oasis fan, I do feel Noel Gallagher's guitar solo in "Won't Get Fooled Again" was just a little less than good. The picture quality though RGB scart like any recently filmed footage dumped onto DVD is fantastic and I could not see any mosaicing in dark sequences (that said, I only viewed it on a 24" TV.) Sound quality is also very, very good too. There is the welcome addition of a DTS soundtrack which many home cinema fans such as myself will be happy to hear. Through my modest setup of Eltax bookshelf speakers all around and a Sony STR-DB780 QS reciever connected upto a Panasonic dvd player via coaxial digital interconnect and Van Damme speaker cables, I was able to hear even the "swooping" where Roger was doing his best with the microphone, making it hurtle across the drum kit and monitor speakers. Aside from this, considering this is a two dvd set (one for the feature and one for extras), the extras really are poor. At first I was excited at the prospect of seeing the back stage and rehearsal footage for each guest artist, but each clip is only around one minute long. It isn't even enough to get the taste buds going. Overall, the main reason any The Who fan will want to buy this dvd for is to watch one of the greatest bands in the world perform, and for that alone this DVD is a thoroughly amazing watch and is difficult to stay seated when you have the volume high! A must buy for any Who fan.
Netgear Trek N300 Travel Router And Range Extender Share Extend WiFi

Excellent gadget.
I am a technophile, if that is a correct or "respectable" term to use. I have a lot of content stored digitally, but a lot is streamed from the net. I use Chromecasts in each room of my home which has a TV. The content I enjoy through these is predominantly Youtube and other online stuff, particularly sites which are built using HTML5. I control them using my mobile phone and tablet, both of which use Android 6. The problem comes when I want to go on holiday. I don't spend all of my holidays watching videos, but in the evenings or if I cannot sleep or the weather is poor, I want to watch stuff for entertainment. I might just want to listen to the radio, for that matter. A lot of places feature WiFi, but either the signal is poor, or it is a hotspot type affair which a Chromecast is not compatible with. Some even make you pay PER device you have connected. Enter this marvellous device. It can either be a general router which has a modem connected to it, a range extender, or a wifi sharer. You can power it by USB, or plug it directly into a wall socket and charge your USB device using it, thus, saving a valuable power outlet if you are in a hotel. The USB socket can also be used to share storage devices. Once powered, you connect to it using the default SSID and password which like most wifi routers/APs, is printed on a sticker on the back of it. Once connected, opening a browser will take you to the config page, where you will be presented with a list of SSID or network names. I found the SSID which was relevant to me and connected, obviously supplying the password if applicable. Now, if you have connected to a hotspot, opening your browser will take you to the authentication page you would expect to see if you had connected directly to it. Once authenticated, any device you connect to the Netgear's own wifi will have internet connectivity, which a Chromecast depends on even if you are streaming content to it which is stored locally. This is PERFECT! I tested it at a holiday let in Dorset where the router was by the front door, the garden being a story lower than the floor the router was on. I had the Netgear situated in the lounge, which was a good 4 meters away, my seating point being 15 meters away and lower down - I had "Good" reception which was strong enough to allow me to listen to the radio without constant interruptions, so even if you plan to use this as an ordinary range extender, it is a good product. Also, in my first use of this product, the router already at the home was the BT homehub 3. At first, I opted not to use the Netgear assuming it wasn't necessary. When I attempted to stream a 1080p movie to my Chromecast via the HH3, it kept buffering. I interrupted the showing to set up the Netgear and was then able to stream it perfectly. This was a full bitrate bluray rip which was stored on my laptop and played via the Videostream addon for the Chrome browser, meaning the content was sent directly to the Chromecast, as opposed to it being played on the laptop and the screen being mirrored to it. Well recommended.
