No school like the old school.
I used the DeFrancis series when I learned Chinese 35 years ago. Recently, my son wanted to learn Chinese and he asked me which books to get. DeFrancis obviously. Old, reliable standards, and like good friends to me.

Great book
There is no better book in the world for understanding Chinese social, political, and literary thought from the end to the Qing Dynasty until the end of the Maoist Era.

Great Rack
2 of 2 found this helpful Great rack. Strong and sturdy: welded joints, not screwed together. Rear "wing" elements reach down to prevent lower rear of an empty pannier bag from contacting and destroying spokes on rear wheel. This is one of very few racks bags to have this very important design feature, and the other such racks are all twice the price or more. Holds bag far enough back that I don't get heel strikes on the bag. Lightweight. I own two. Would buy another if I needed a new rack.
