What I needed
Exactly what I needed to replace our old one which had disintegrated after 10 years or so. A little complex to fit as I had to work it out, but could do it in 20 minutes now I know how. Nice to be able to repair something.

Only really needed the springs
I have an old (1970s) Hornby Black 5 which would not run. I dismantled the ringfield motor and found the springs which press agains the brushes no longer had any 'push'. Thinking I'd need new brushes as well, I bought these THEN found adverts for springs only! I was pleased the parts were still availlable and not too expensive. Fitting was little fiddly but I know have a fully working loco.

VFM - at first.....
Only used it briefly but so far so good. Very good value for money. Obviously can say anything about its durability.
Update: failed after a couple of years - seems to be the heating element as the rest of the unit seems to function. No response from the seller. I've had a good look inside the iron and base station and not been able to establish the fault, so sadly this will be going into WEEE.
