Tripod that meets the eye
3 of 4 found this helpful I'm 6'1" and wanted a tripod tall enough to meet my eye-level: this one does the job. It opens, extends and locks in the same way as most other tripods. The quick-release plate can be inserted in any of the four possible 90 degree orientations - very useful. Also additional plates are available - a great time saver when switching between cameras, and good to be able to replace the one separate part that is easy to lose. I only use the tripod indoors, but it feels built to last. Recommended.

I didn't know what I was missing
My 9-year-old 32" LG failed, so I bought this 50" Samsung as a replacement: a huge step up in picture quality, and smooth, up-to-date smart-tv functionality - though it does NOT have Freeview Play, which would have been my ideal. An important consideration was the central tripod stand, which fits on my existing TV corner unit, despite the screen being a little wider. When assembling the stand, a moulded plastic latch was not shaped quite as it should have been, but the included metal screws meant that this was not a critical fault. Playing 4K video via the YouTube app or from a USB stick works without fuss and gives stunning image quality. For some blu-ray copies of films from the 70s, the default "dynamic" picture setting looks artificial, but there's a "cinema" mode which gives a more authentic look. The speakers make a surprisingly full sound, considering the limitations of the flat screen enclosure. There is no headphone socket, so I use the optical audio output, via a digital to analogue convertor, for headphone listening: this process introduces a slight delay in the audio signal, but there is an option to "reduce audio delay" in the TV settings which compensates sufficiently. Overall, a lovely TV, with which I am very pleased.

Poetry in motion
Blistering cinematic realisation of a life-changing novel: wish I'd seen it when I was 17. The commentary and other extras are fascinating.
